Teaching Ratios Using Tangrams
Tangrams
can be a good teaching tool to teach ratios. Below is a square formed by
the seven tangram pieces.
The
combination of the 2 large red triangles represents 1/2 of the whole area of the
square. Each red triangle represents
1/4 of the whole area of the square.
The green triangle, green square, and green parallelogram each represents 1/8 of
the whole area of square. Each small
blue triangle represents 1/16 of the whole area of the square.
